Recipe For Pure Vanilla Extract


Do you hate how expensive real vanilla extract is?  I do!  I just recently paid close to $5 for a 2 oz. bottle I believe.  The imitation stuff is cheaper yet terrible for you, and tastes awful in comparison!  Last year I found an easy recipe to make your own vanilla extract which saves a ton of money and you can even make extra with the idea to share it as Christmas gifts.  It works out to cost about $60 for a whole gallon of the stuff, which breaks down to less than fifty cents an ounce!  Of course, you can always make less if you'd like.  The only catch?  It takes 6 months for the extract to be ready to use, so if you like the idea of giving it as a gift, you definitely need to plan ahead of time and start soon!  You can also find information here on where to buy cute little jars and ideas for decorating and labeling them, as well as recipe cards to complete your gifts.  Doesn't that sound fun?!  So without further adieu, here's the recipe link:
